Cistern connected to every rainwater outlet. Wrong?

Our garden landscaper has obviously connected all rainwater drains (roof surface, courtyard drain, driveway drain, drains) to the rainwater cistern. The cistern is used exclusively for garden irrigation. Is the connection compliant with regulations or is there a need for improvements? It feels like only the roof surfaces should have been connected, but I can't find anything where this can be verified.

What does your local water supply or regulation say about the handling of wastewater or rainwater? Is everything basically regulated about what can go where.

The question is also, what do you want to have in the cistern; rainwater from the roof can be more or differently contaminated than that from your driveway;

For us, only the roof water from the house and garage runs into the cistern; that is completely sufficient; because the surplus from your cistern also has to go somewhere, and in many places it is not allowed into the wastewater system and has to be able to soak away again.

Therefore, where a lot flows in, a lot should be able to flow out when not in use;

The local regulation is a separation system. The overflow of the cistern is also (presumably correctly) connected to it.

I no longer have a choice about what I want to have in my cistern. Everything that comes through the drains goes in there or into the filter. I would prefer it if it were only the water from the roof surfaces since I suspect this is cleaner.

I had thought something like this might be clearly regulated in some standard or something.

You can do it that way, but you don't have to. I would now rather connect drains and courtyard drainage directly to the rainwater sewer. Is everything already backfilled or is there still the possibility to change that?

Of course, everything is closed. I just noticed it by chance.
