Choose construction financing: What amount/term/monthly savings?

That's how it is. Of course, you can save and save and save until you can somehow afford the house, but that doesn't necessarily make you happy. As is often the case in life, the golden mean is probably the goal.

Anyone who does not include amounts for this in the monthly expenses is fooling themselves. There are no "normal months" and car, furniture, PC, vacations will always occur again (more or less regularly).

And in the future, you will never again have the need to make "certain purchases"? That needs to be planned for.

So some of you are employed by the state. Good for you, because with a certain degree of certainty you can actually expect performance- and risk-free pay raises.

Yes, of course these things will come up again. That is why I indicated in my original post 2,500 EUR expenses as well as part of another 500 EUR as a buffer. These are costs that are currently incurred and of course will also be incurred in the future. For this reason, we have not saved even more so far and for this reason we do not expect to have more money available for the house. That there might be some adjustments here and there to a somewhat more frugal lifestyle is of course also clear – it does not always have to be two luxury vacations (or something like that).
