Moving the chimney including the wood stove into the living room (or the chimney then in the study (?)) would also make sense from my point of view. We have a similar floor plan, and the stove basically only runs when we are in the living room – not at the dining table. So that makes sense independently of the flue pipe issue. Perhaps the chimney can be partially hidden in the wall so that it does not appear so bulky.

We have not yet decided 100% on the type of open fireplace, but if there are built-in sets for the stove that need to be clad, it should actually also be possible to close the gap with that? How do you imagine a cladding?
Depending on the model, it is either a "built-in stove set" that needs to be clad -> for that there are special panels which can then be plastered or clad with thin bricks etc. Only the glass pane remains visible at the end.
Or it is a freestanding wood stove made of metal which radiates heat in all directions; in that case, nothing is clad.
