I see it the same way as Meister keks. Spiders and wasps don't stand a chance with me; I spray everything twice a year with permethrin. I have two [Hummel-Nester], which I leave alone. But wasps eat through your wooden structures to get material for nest building.

And if someone is watching you, there is a heavy penalty!

We still reported it because they destroyed the styrofoam in the roller shutter box.

I would recommend simply having the nest removed by an exterminator, they know what they're doing and nothing can happen to you. It just costs a bit more.

This thread really makes me smile, we once had a fairly large wasp nest in the roller shutter box, and the carpenter who was there to replace the balcony door thought he didn’t need anyone to remove the nest, he would do it himself... with a vacuum cleaner *facepalm* when we asked him to stop, he just waved us off and got started... as soon as the vacuum was on the nest, the lovely little creatures got lively and the first sting hit him right in the neck.

The end of the story was that a specialist from the fire department had to come who then sprayed the whole living room with poison, meaning we couldn’t enter the living room for 48 hours. If they had called the nice gentleman right away, he could have easily killed/driven away the queen with a wire and the wasps would have left, that would have been a matter of about 2 hours...

And the moral of the story.... one can do it, the other can’t.

We once had a wasp nest in the garden and a company always came to mow the lawn and trim the hedge, but one of the workers did not see the nest and cut into it, you could only see him running away, but he was only stung 2-3 times in the arm. Since then, they always check the hedge to see if there is a wasp nest there.
