Good pointers, thanks for that. We will get together with the tiler again soon.

Which format exactly? I would even install over 60x60 without offset.

With 60x30 we have about 80 to 20% offset, they look visually good and you don't notice any warping.

Here is the hallway.

That is also the standard size

We have it in the basement - but there too wild association.

EDIT: You also have wild association, right? You can see the typical staircase formation.

Pffff that sounds so normal standard size :-( Next house will get 100 x 100. The question is only who will pay for it.

That's normal too

That doesn't do the tilers any favors.

We have 90x45 on the ground floor and 60x60 in the bathrooms.

To avoid (financial) surprises, speak with the tiler in good time. Often, for the reasons mentioned above, it is laid in a quarter bond. However, manufacturers and tilers often advise against a half bond for larger tiles. Large tiles, e.g. 120x60, are often laid in a basket weave pattern. Often, it is not the tolerances of the tiles that are the problem, but the screed. There are flowing and cement screed, both have their advantages and disadvantages. Tilers prefer flowing screed. The larger unevenness of a cement screed could be eliminated with leveling compound, which in turn results in floor buildup and higher costs. Depending on the laying method and the number and position of expansion joints, more waste may occur. Therefore, get in touch with the tiler in good time.
