Ceiling height increase adds value? Until when is it possible to change the height?

What ceiling height do you have and would you decide the same way again?

We planned 2.55m height on the ground floor and 2.5m on the upper floor (height after floor construction).

Is a higher ceiling value-enhancing with regard to resale? Is there a trend towards higher ceilings in house construction, or are about 90% of builders satisfied with a ceiling height of around 2.5m?

Our project has already been forwarded to the surveyor. Should they already be informed about a ceiling increase, or is that still possible after the surveyor, but before completion/submission of the building application?

They are each 2.80m. I don't believe they add value to a typical single-family house. In certain segments, a high ceiling is rather expected.

I am rather a quiet reader, but I worked my way through your large thread and have the following brief thoughts:

1. It has to fit you. You can also plan too high and then feel uncomfortable.
2. Please don’t change so much anymore. You remind me a bit of the robber who still adjusted things at the last minute and then, for example, after the increase the falls no longer fit...

We had 2.50m ceiling height in the first house and now 2.70m. The 20cm makes a big difference, especially in the large living-dining area, it simply looks much better. During the renovation of our first house, we drove back and forth between the houses every day and the low ceiling particularly stood out to us, it felt really oppressive. I would always choose a higher ceiling again, although 2.70m is completely sufficient for me, it doesn’t need to be higher. Best regards Sabine

If he was commissioned to create the site plan and the top edge of the finished floor, eaves and/or building height changes, yes. If your house is not a residential building of building class 1 or 2 with no more than three above-ground floors (§6 Building Code NRW), the setback areas will also change.

Basically, it is to be seen positively. A ceiling height of 2.50m in a spacious single-family home with large rooms definitely means a price reduction, as it does not fit the house (it feels oppressive). In a terraced house, it would be normal. To be honest, I would no longer build 2.50m ceilings today, just as many no longer install 2m doors. 2.65-2.70m on the ground floor is appropriate. Then 2.20m doors.
