Hello,
I am planning a carport for my new building, see attachment.
Originally, a side length of 7m to the neighbor's property was planned, which could be extended to just under 9m.
The carport should be freestanding (prefabricated house). Between the carport and the house wall I am planning a row of VSG clear glass for lighting.

Currently, I am considering how to optimally design the whole thing regarding length, with an integrated garden shed. I think two cars side by side will be too tight?
One idea would also be to make a parking space to the north facing the street.

I am grateful for your general feedback / experiences, tips.

Best regards

We have an internal width between the posts of 5.20m in our carport. That is sufficient, after all, you can also pass between the posts. Of course, wider would always be more comfortable, but you don't want to make everything indefinitely large. Here, however, I see a problem with the entrance platform, the second car then parks directly in front of it. I would omit the platform and make everything at one level. Then you can also fit your two vehicles on the property. Alternatively, move the house by another meter to gain space.

What else do you want to park besides the cars? I don't see a storage room drawn here. You also want to be able to access bicycles when the cars are inside, which is not so convenient here.

Hello,

thank you for your feedback.
Moving the house is rather unlikely, it is already in place.
The platform will be removed, the plan is to pave at ground level.
2 cars would be good.
I have to check the tool shed at the south end - how deep should a carport for a car be - 6m?
In principle, a middle purlin can also be planned to more conveniently drive into the carport on the left and right. The drawn trash shed is not planned that way, paving can also be done there.

Another idea is to plan an additional parking space on the north side of the house.

Best regards

According to the Bavarian parking space regulation, a parking space in public areas must have a width of 2.30m and a depth of 5.00m. The intended 6.00m therefore fits quite well, so that you can still access the trunk when it rains and do not get wet if you drive in far enough. I am a fan of open garage driveways and carports. I would prefer to be able to drive in exactly in the middle, for example, if you want to open all the doors completely and do not have to park diagonally after passing between the two posts. Furthermore, the risk of collision would be too great for me, and the wooden beam would have to be designed with a correspondingly larger free span.

You don't really have that much space up there and you still have to maneuver. 6m depth is pretty good. Due to the boundary length, we only have 5m, so my Octavia sometimes gets wet at the front and rear. It's not the end of the world, but of course it's nicer with 6m.

If I see that correctly, you have drawn the heat pump outdoor unit on the house wall. It must be at least 30-40 cm away from the wall so that the air can circulate. About 50 cm is also the depth of the heat pump. So calculate roughly 80 cm to 1 m, which you are missing there. There probably won't be any parking space that fits there anymore.
