What exactly does that mean? The contractor? The foreman? If possible, then fire them so you can sleep peacefully. But won’t that just cause more gossip? Envy is by the way the highest form of admiration!

I have so far very rarely heard the term Capo outside the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, and never for a foreman in Germany, and that two present craftsmen both would be foremen would be a remarkable exam pass rate. If the mere fact of who is the client of a simple single-family house already constitutes gossip material, the village must be ultra-small – actually so small that everyone already knows anyway, because one is related or connected by marriage to almost everyone. But when I read the other comments here, I am probably not completely alone in not understanding where the drama lies.

So? He is supposed to work for you and if he does not do it properly, you take out the whip. I don't believe his employer (or is he a self-employed craftsman?) would let him get away with poor work.
