Also to consider is the upcoming season(s)! Currently, the ground around is probably quite well compacted due to the construction machinery!? If you fill it in now and autumn/winter with rain comes, you'll get shoes like an astronaut on soft ground. And every trade that comes in winter and has to walk over it will spread dirt for you. Dirt on a construction site is not unusual now, but soft earth masses will probably not cause anyone to cheer!

If necessary, proper mineral mixture and gravel must be placed on top. Cars, delivery vans, and trucks will get stuck if they remain on soil.

A neighbor a few houses down is currently working on the outside area in front of the house; they have now excavated everything (driveway and path to the house) to a depth of 1 meter. He definitely didn’t expect that either.

How did the story end? The same question came up for me.

We filled it partially with material that a neighbor dug up next door and then had it compacted with gravel.

The picture did not yet show the final width.
