Hello,

I would like to install a cable in my garage for charging an electric car so that I am prepared. Some say to install 230 V, others say 380 V. What makes sense?

Which cable would be recommended? NYM 5x2.5 or even thicker? How many wires are needed for a charger?

Thank you for your feedback

Just ask the electricity provider where there are also corresponding "charging stations" to be obtained :)

Best regards in brief

That depends on the length. Nowadays I would assume 22kw, so 400V/32A. In a new building I would even have 63A installed.

At 32A you are at about 6mm with usual lengths and so on.
