Cable drum / extension cable for high voltage

Hello,

in 3 weeks we will start. Now I have the problem that our construction power box is located about 100 meters away from our construction site.

1. Now I need 75 m extension cable for heavy current. Where can I best get this?

2. For the normal power I wanted to get cable reels now. Are 3x 40 m cable reels okay? Or is that too far? What should I consider?

Ask your electrician or a local equipment rental company; they usually have cables of this length for rent.
Why is the construction power box located so far away?
Logically, I would have the electrician lay it with the appropriate cable cross-section up to the construction site.

With us, there were 2 extensions installed between the construction power connection and the construction site, each with a box. This should be done by the company that installed the construction power connection for you.

So basically, you cannot connect 3 X40m cable reels in a row! The machines would run, but the cable would heat up excessively. Too much voltage (Volt) drops, which increases the current (Ampere), meaning a high current flows through your drill. The power of the machine is affected and it is not good for the motor.

1. Ask the energy supplier if they can lay it closer for you?

2. Ask the company that does the electrical installation. They are usually well equipped for this.

So, through a long cable, there might be a high resistance, so that at the same voltage at the power source LESS current flows (lower current intensity). I don't think a machine will be directly damaged by this; motors will just be "slower" rotated. However, if the 3 cable drums have cables with large cross-sections/the contacts are good, the resistance is not much higher than that of a single cable with the same cross-section. (And the cables also do not get warmer).
