Hello everyone! The building authority is interfering with us. We originally wanted to build a freestanding workshop ("garage" and no car is supposed to ever drive in it) as a boundary construction. Since it is a corner plot, however, we have to keep 5 meters of "front yard area" free. The workshop must now be built directly onto the house. We wanted to build the workshop ourselves. The house is being built by a company. Now we are wondering: Can we also build the workshop directly adjoining the house on our own, or does the house builder have to be involved now (e.g. because of the connection)? We really want to do it ourselves, especially to save money. Questions in particular: - For the workshop, do you only build 3 walls and the 4th side is the wall of the house, or do you build four walls and connect the house wall with one wall of the workshop? - If yes: How do you connect the sides (house and workshop – also to avoid cracks in the plaster)? - Can we get the plaster of the workshop to look like that of the house? (we don't think we will be as fast as the house building company with the construction of the workshop) - Should we have the house completely plastered by our house builder or leave the area where the workshop adjoins unplastered? What are the advantages and disadvantages of that? Many thanks in advance to the forum!!
