Building a wooden house yourself, what should be considered?

The minimum values are shown by the Energy Saving Ordinance calculation (without this it doesn’t work either), you cannot generalize here. A log house does not work without additional insulation. Fire protection requirements are a matter for the federal states – but for a single-family house it is not particularly crucial whether the house is made of wood or stone.

Indeed, I already have offers with an astonishingly low price per square meter; sometimes with masonry you are already above that price just with the interior and exterior plaster. In other words, €33 for 58 mm beams or €60 for 92 mm

yes, half is still missing.. You don't want to build a garden shed. Masonry 115 mm also only costs 50€.

You do realize that for the energy saving ordinance you have to start somewhere around 200mm? Take a look at the prices then...

To comply with the energy saving ordinance with a pure log house, you would need more like 500 mm... no one will probably build something like that. that costs 600-700€ per square meter.

Hello Peter
We built a log cabin ourselves (and by ourselves, I mean really ourselves, without a construction team) and are extremely satisfied with it.
The construction costs were including the land! well under €100,000.
Our house was also a standard model, but it was (at no extra cost) redesigned according to our ideas. The company is called Betana. They do not build the houses themselves, but are only the intermediary in Germany.
The houses are produced in Estonia using highly modern methods. All fittings on the windows and doors are German fittings according to the latest standards. Also the insulated glass panes. You should not be bothered by the fact that they are actually only holiday homes. They can be converted into fully functional residential houses without great effort.
After placing the order it took (exactly as announced) only 3 months, then the 40-ton truck stood in front of the property with the complete house on it. (of course still in parts - ). Except for the staircase. That was already assembled.
Three days later there was already a topping-out ceremony.
If you are interested, I can certainly tell you a lot more. Especially what you absolutely have to pay attention to.
