Good day,
I moved into my new apartment two months ago, 3rd floor, old building. Unfortunately, I only noticed after moving in that there are several light, whitish-yellowish spots on the ceilings of my small bedroom that look very watery. These same spots are also found in larger numbers in various places on two walls.
The holiday replacement for the janitor said that he does not think the spots are mold, as he has only ever seen mold occur in corners so far. However, he could not tell me what the spots might be. So I am still not really reassured.
As for the room, I can only say that it is poorly ventilated because it leads around a corner. When I moved in, I noticed quite a lot of condensation on the windows. The spots do not occur near the floor but relatively high under the ceiling, but not necessarily in corners. They are practically only on two walls in this one room – one adjoins the neighboring apartment, the other the living room, but there are no spots visible in the living room. I do not know if this is relevant, but the replacement janitor also pointed out to me that there is a bricked-up former chimney in the room (the area adjoining both of the mentioned walls). Furthermore, the room was only inadequately painted by the previous tenant, i.e. some spots were painted over, so everything looks very "patchwork." However, this applies to the whole apartment, but the spots are only found in this one room.
Does anyone have any guess or tips?
Thank you very much
