Blown-in air smells like musty plastic

we moved into our new building just under a month ago. Our ventilation system is the Zehnder ComfoAir. The air coming from the ventilation inlets still smells like plastic. Does anyone know this? What could be the cause?

Is the enthalpy exchanger with [Wärmewückgewinnung] installed at your place?

I don't know exactly how your controlled residential ventilation system is set up, but if the usual blue pipes etc. were used, then more than half of the whole thing is made of plastic. Since you have only been living there for about a month, in my opinion these are quite normal emissions from the system.

There is a thread about a similar problem in the green forum. The cause there was apparently a defective batch of pipes. Otherwise, try googling "Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung stinkt Plastik" --> first result. The thread is called "Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung stinkt!"

It can be a product defect, but it doesn't have to be. As far as I remember, it took about 2-3 months with us until the "plastic smell" was no longer noticeable.

Thank you very much for your tips! The installer initially tried to change something on the system. But it did not help. We are now waiting for Zehnder to get in touch with us. We ordered the enthalpy exchanger for an additional 750 euros from our construction company. We strongly suspect that it is the problem. Do you think Zehnder will install a standard heat exchanger for us because the enthalpy exchanger is faulty? Can we get the 750 euros back from our construction company?
