It's getting more and more interesting here.
Wooden windows are out, since I don't feel like painting them. I haven't looked into wood+aluminum at all yet because I assumed from the start that they are significantly more expensive. But I'll ask about the extra cost again. Are they as maintenance-intensive as pure wooden windows?
I'm curious to hear more opinions about the foil-covered windows.
However, I can't imagine that a foil you buy yourself and stick onto the frames is comparable to the foils applied in the factories.

Wood aluminum costs at least twice as much as plastic windows. I am currently also considering foil wrapping because my wife does not like white. Some solid providers partially offer a 10-year warranty on the work and color of the foil wrapping.

I will continue to follow up on the topic – the window must then withstand thermal stress.... usually the roller shutter is down anyway because otherwise the house glows.

They won't be either. It's always a cheap solution that will look like it. I wouldn't even consider it because it can only turn out badly. Sorry for the blunt words. The surcharge for colored windows is very low if it is a standard color.

Of course, that is a different quality. I am also not sure whether it is "just" foil or if they apply a real "laminate." Then the stuff is very durable. Basically, though, nothing speaks against foil. Look at the foils for cars. I haven't seen any that had real discolorations. And they are subjected to much more stress (high speed, car wash, etc.).

If someone gives me a 10-year warranty and has been on the market for 40 years, I am not taking a risk.

It was about foil now, which is not applied by just anyone, but by yourself. The foil as such may still be okay, but how do you get it onto the window as an amateur without it looking sh...?
