Protrusions and recesses, etc. increase the cost of the project. If you already say that money is tight and therefore the half-storey has to be omitted.... Better to build budget-friendly and standard. It's always a pity to bury a dream, but if it's not feasible, then it just doesn't work. I know what the costs for Bauhaus style are. We build with flat roofs and Bauhaus style. But that brings you little for your project. Pictures and details on this can be found in a separate thread. I can only tell you that it always requires a lot of non-standard elements and that gets pretty expensive.

Try Google image search with the keywords 'Doppelhaus Bauhausstil'. There are more elaborate examples: Or simpler ones:

I saw you again today in another thread and stupidly ask whether/how you have progressed in the meantime. If there is already a specific plot of land, we could brainstorm if you "reveal" it to us. If you don’t yet feel quite prepared for a semi-detached house project by the nature of the object: with the search terms "11ant Doppelhaus" and "Ohnekellerer" or "Mitkellerer" you should at least quickly find my collected ramblings on this topic complex. Is the sparring partner for the other half already known? (maybe they have more money and will add a recessed floor, then the topic of twins would have been somewhat relativized).

Unfortunately no, I would say. From an "example," I also expect usability for application to the specific problem, and this property is atypical in terms of size. The OP already writes that they cannot afford the two and a half floors – from this, I conclude that it is more likely a typical semi-detached house plot and not one like the "example" with two adjoining buildings on plots that in terms of size would easily allow detached single-family houses. So this is more like a double villa – but here it is presumably more about the usual "halves."
