What else should it be if all the pipes are installed flush-mounted? A surface-mounted fitting?

We have had this type for years (also in the rental apartment)... Hygienically, there are only problems if you do not clean, then the tub can become heavily limescaled at the spot where the water flows in. Our previous tenants apparently never swung the cleaning cloth.

Hello , , , thanks for your answers, that makes me feel safe enough to choose this option.
My favorite disadvantage remains, the higher price.

Regarding UP: I still can’t really imagine it, I thought at least the controls and the shower part would be "normally" installed. And the water supply, that comes out from the wall below the edge of the bathtub...? Ok, the connection from the controls to the water supply must probably be UP then. Sorry, but I think it’s the first time in my life that I’m thinking about such things. My goodness, what a nice life I had, everywhere in my parents’ house and in the rental apartments everything was already there, window sills, faucets, sockets... and I never thought about why and where things are installed.

Hello,

well, the lever mixer and the showerhead of course are not UP, that would be somewhat impractical in terms of operation...

UP simply means that only the two elements are visible on the wall, and not the entire mixing valve.

From this UP fitting, the line then goes to the water inlet.

It’s crazy what money can be spent on the bathroom nowadays if you want one or the other gimmick...

In our shower, for example, we don’t even have a "classic" lever to start the shower anymore – we have a rotary control for the water temperature and otherwise four buttons to select the corresponding water outlet.

Best regards,

Dirk

@Doc.Schnaggs: Four buttons to select the position, and the flow rate, how do you control that?

Yes, the bathroom can get expensive. Although right now we're actually overspending on the kitchen in the planned partial budget. I should actually be saving in the bathroom now. Well, the one built-in fitting won't kill me. Or?? Will that already be a three-digit additional cost for the one fitting, what do you estimate?

Ha – you have a shower panel. Hm – that sounds familiar to me. But for price reasons, we gave up the button version (Hansgrohe). For us, the 3 variants are set via another rotary lever. However, we have replaced the shower head of the hand shower. With our hand shower, you can switch between "normal shower function" and "rain shower" (waterfall). So in the end, 4 functions after all. As far as I know, the flow rate is "preset" on the shower panel. Oh yes – the actual topic: We also have such a bathtub spout. My wife has had nothing negative to report so far (she usually bathes the kids or herself, I use the shower more).
