Hello, I have a question about our bathroom planning. We want an open shower next to a tiled wall, so no glass and no glass door. The niche behind the stairs (approx. 175 cm long) seemed suitable at first glance. But now I'm afraid the wall will be too short and the splash water will end up in the bathroom. I estimate that the wall should not be longer than 1 m so that you can still walk through comfortably? What do you think? Alternatively, the shower could be placed against the outer wall. The knee wall is 2 m. Does that make sense? Thanks and best regards PS: I just quickly changed the second picture on the iPad.. Something else would have been nicer

The shower will definitely be quite dark...

The shower on the roof is not okay ... knee wall 200 cm .. how is that supposed to work with average-sized Central Europeans and a showerhead?

Why don’t you want a door on the left variant? I would plan the niche passage as a 70 cm wide door, so leave about 72 cm of free passage (you should check what dimensions normal shower doors need) and leave it open at first to try showering. However, I suspect that too much water will splash out. Then I would install a door that opens into the shower, so to speak, opening upwards into the left corner. That way, the wet door won’t drip in front of the shower after showering.

Thank you for your answers.
Nordanney: there are lamps after all, I have now seen this type of shower in 2 bathrooms and also first asked if it wouldn’t be too dark. Both times the answer was no.
Kbt09: Well, it’s only 2 m directly at the wall. Then it logically gets higher. and we are also not the tallest, 162 and 183 cm. I’ll post a picture of the layout again. You’re probably not completely wrong ... and trying it out is already a good idea.
I thought that this variant also has the advantage that the toilet is a bit out of view.

Even if that rises... then you only have the full room height at the earliest halfway through the shower... so try standing there with 183 cm and the showerhead above you and wash your hair, where your elbows then nicely hit the sloping roof on the right. No, the shower there on the lower right simply doesn’t work.

By the way, I don’t see the lighting problem either. My shower is also walled off and I simply have 2 ceiling spotlights in the shower area. By the way, it’s also good if they are suitable for damp rooms but not necessarily directly hit by water splashes.

Ok, then it will probably be as originally planned after all. And we'll take a look at the glass door then.
Thank you.
