Right - Neighbor 1 no longer works, Neighbor 2 starts much earlier in the morning, Neighbor 3 not known to me yet, Neighbor 4 ditto, Neighbor 5 shift work. And on weekends I usually have no time at the moment - I have to take care of the other stuff that comes onto the property ;)
That means in this heat mowing would either have to be late in the evening or very early on weekends. But luckily it doesn’t have to be that regular, so I’d rather worry about things I’ll just end up forgetting anyway. And a scythe is already on its way - hopefully it’s reasonably sharp! ;)

At the latest when the dandelion, the ground elder, and the poppy spread in the neighboring gardens, your neighbors don’t care when you mow, as long as you do it. :)

If your meadow gets too tall, you shouldn't leave it like that. It will start to rot eventually and can smell – besides, it takes the sunlight away from the grass underneath. Just as an aside: How big is your meadow? Ask a local farmer if he can mow it for free; in return, he gets the green matter (as material for a biomass plant or as hay). Farmers are happy to get free areas.

Yep, it composts and turns into humus... good for the soil, better than clear-cutting, because then the soil can leach.

But I think the idea with the charlatan is brilliant :)

So, the first misdeeds with the scythe are done - the farmers had no interest because the piece was too small, and the access route right through the village was not very appealing. It still looks awful, like a 'micro-tornado went wild', but better than before. Now to sharpen the scythe again for the next use... Nevertheless - once the garden is laid out, the scythe will be retired. Then a Räppelchen (also called a spindle mower) will be used...
