That is probably more wishful thinking than reality. The material itself may be waterproof, but it is not made from a single piece. In the simplest case, there are butt-joined panels. Of course, there are gaps. Water can also run in from the sides.

The base slab is WU after all and waterproof anyway. The barrier is about residual moisture in the concrete, one could also wait 1 year, then the foil would be unnecessary. But who still has that much time today?

With us, all joints are foamed and the external side insulation connects seamlessly. In addition, PE and aluminum foils are under the Styrodur. So it should somehow be watertight.
