We had a Softub in the garden of the old building for a few years during the winter season. We also took it spontaneously from a trade fair. It consumed between €25 and €28 per month (prices until 2015, green electricity).
At first it stood freely in the garden, but soon we were tired of our sociable neighbors lifting the cover off the garden fence at night and asking how we were doing. However, we insisted that the little house could be opened to watch the stars and also to watch the snowflakes dance. The climate stimulus does the trick.
First, it was great. The jets have absolute power; you won’t want or need more. The standard jets spray in the set, adjustable direction. There are also some in the accessories that have a kind of moving mounted disc inside, ideal for staying in front of it for quite a while. The American electric motors are almost indestructible long runners under our conditions. Don’t ask me what exactly is different, I don’t understand electricity, if not even less.
Second, we had to carry out extensive research and measures to reduce noise because we also had neighbors in the residential area. It has to circulate all the time after all. In this context, I would never put it on anything that can swing but rather sink it in something heavy. Most of the noise, however, comes from the technology barrel. The first neighbor felt overwhelmed by the noise before the pool was even connected.
Third, water care was laborious; eventually I was tired of kneeling for 10 minutes every evening to take care of the water. However, we really demanded a lot from the pool water: Always at 38 degrees, coming in from the front door, taking off clothes on the way, and jumping into the pool at the back. If the water is also supposed to remain sparkling clean, you basically have a chronic patient. We also couldn’t avoid improvements in water care. The water was like a living being; it practically adjusted itself to its users.
For us, it was worth ordering the filters with silver ions from the USA; they just barely slipped under customs.
Just so you know: A good control system for a first-class whirlpool, which takes over checking and dosing, costs around 10,000.– on its own. By the way, in terms of hygiene, a round pool is much better than a square one. In the round there are no dead corners.
We gave it as a gift to a child living alone when selling the old building. He did no water care but simply let the pool fill and then drain again according to mood. He had it in operation for 3 years now; this year it’s going on eBay, used too rarely.
