Otherwise just look in parallel. Search for an apartment and scour the real estate market. Then you can still argue with the bank.

Your problem is not parental leave, but the probationary period when changing jobs. Your creditworthiness then goes down to almost nothing. Also expect that your income in the North will not correspond to the conditions in Munich. By the way, 150K€ sounds a lot like the middle of nowhere and/or bad conditions. Assume that you will have to renovate at least partially (many obligations are triggered by the change of ownership!).

Hello,

we had a similar problem and many dismissed it. Some banks did not include parental allowance at all or the income after parental leave.

That is the point and it is too short-sighted because there is not even a (new) employment contract yet.

May I ask what kind of job you are looking for that makes you so confident you will quickly find a (well-paid) position? Especially in a region with low real estate prices?

Gladly! I also believe you can safely skip the appointment. You will go on parental leave (someone wrote here how a bank evaluates this). Your husband is self-employed with low profits. You want to move somewhere where you will very likely not earn the same on the same position. Then there is also the probationary period. All this is simply too uncertain for the bank and far from stable conditions to even consider it. Even if it was just an idea.

I work in project management, moving to a region where I have a very good network - simultaneously a good CV. I’m not worried about that, since I also have a year to look for a job. I don’t necessarily expect a lower income, I have comparative data from friends in the region. But you are all right, we will go through with this change with a better gut feeling once we are renting first. The house isn’t going anywhere!!
