Attach wire rope for curtain to terrace post

We have a terrace roof that is mounted on aluminum posts (3mm thick aluminum, otherwise hollow inside).
We would like to stretch a wire rope between the posts to hang an outdoor curtain.

What would be the best way to attach such a tension hook to the aluminum post? Hollow wall anchors with metric thread and screw the tension hook in there? Insert rivet nuts?

With aluminum, that's not without issues

When it comes to wire rope stories, I always let the rope manufacturer dictate the attachment points; they also have the accessories for that.

I would say, by feeling, support plates with a hundred rivets per side—a rather ugly construction.

We have a sun sail that runs on wire ropes, the posts are made of stainless steel with a diameter of about 7 cm. The wire ropes are spring-mounted from above in the posts, the posts themselves also have a spring effect. In short, any sun sails on wire ropes should always be spring-mounted, otherwise a gust of wind can tear and bend everything.

Rivet nuts sound pretty good. You won't pull those out.

I would fasten the wire ropes with tension hooks. My idea would be to either install a rivnut or a hollow wall plug in the aluminum post (I think the plug is even more stable?) and screw in a bolt with a ring end/hook. You can find such a tension hook, for example, by searching for Cosch stainless steel tension hook.

I don’t have the tool for the rivnut.

Then I would drill through the support and attach a nut from the outside, then you can also tighten it.
