Are the structural engineer costs reasonable?

I like the mentioned approach of the "cheap" structural engineer, as long as he then recommends normal ceiling heights, reinforcements, etc. in the end. Who says that specially designed special solutions are not more expensive in the shell construction? I can't assess all that, which is why I would always simply stick to the usual standard and a rough estimate from the structural engineer is sufficient to know whether it fits or not. Regardless, there is still no feedback from the structural engineer (not the architect) on where the prices come from and why they are calculating 10-20k.

is not always applicable....service is not always the same as equipment.

For example, I wanted to have a single-family house demolished ...

Process:
1) Demolish house
2) Seal ground

the cheapest was about €21,000 .....the most expensive was €70,000 (this one actually was looking for contracts :-))

Sand made of gold :-) ?!

@TE just get more offers (even from further away :-))

On that topic, yes.
With you, the two tasks are clear.
It would be different if your task was to prepare.

Our structural engineer is already relatively expensive... in the end, we are at 7k with acceptance. The structural engineer enjoys a good reputation; on the advice of the architect, we entered into cooperation with him. In contrast, my neighbor paid a whopping 1000€ for his entire structural engineering (he gave his architect 5000€). It's really crazy what is sometimes out there. Personally, such an offer was too risky for me... Good work should also be billed properly :)

In my small personal circle, those were also the normal magnitudes. And of course, you get what you pay for: a piece of paper with a stamp. However, I personally would not have wanted to pay for all phases according to HOAI, but would have certainly built with a general contractor + expert, as most people here do.

Everything up to service phase 5, but that was consciously chosen. We do quite a bit ourselves, and a good and detailed plan is the be-all and end-all.
