Hello,

we have received a very good offer for the construction of a single-family home. A brief explanation of our situation: I am currently on parental leave (for the next six months without parental allowance) - my partner earns €2000 net. We pay almost €800 rent, and we thought that with a single-family home it would be about the same.

Is there even a chance to get a loan of about €170,000 since my partner is currently the sole earner?

Best regards

Only the bank can answer this question for you. It depends on several factors. Equity, how secure your husband's job is, or how risky it is, where the property is located, what conditions can be offered to you, and so on and so forth....

In general, it is possible to manage a €170,000 loan with €800, but keep in mind that a home still brings at least €300 in additional costs. And remember that the offer for the new build is just a number; it usually gets much more expensive. Keyword: additional construction costs.
