Funny … I would (probably) like it personally :D At least I wouldn’t refuse this trend, if it were to come. Provided they are - and remain - tight.

My childhood home, built in 1970, had no significant problems with internal downpipes in 51 years - as far as I can remember. Technically, this is not a problem. In case of damage, repairs are more complex and the question is also at what point and how one recognizes damage. We also wanted to build like that, but were convinced of the purpose and benefit of a large roof overhang. The downpipes are not particularly attractive, but also not an eyesore.

However, you are massively interrupting the external insulation at these points. It becomes only homeopathic. Does the energy consultant agree with that? Otherwise, it is just as much a risk as all internal pipes. And wastewater pipes have been disappearing inside walls for 100 years.

Heating coils of the underfloor heating also disappear. Just imagine if something there would be leaking  —- Are there possibly problems in winter when everything freezes?

You, I also really like that. But not everything that is fancy is a) practical and b) a must-have

No problem at all if done correctly. We have welded smooth pipe with leak testing….
