Hello,

Do you know what they say in the Rhineland? "You can believe in church, that’s what it’s there for"

Once is more than enough

With "eager" fathers-in-law, I’ve had my very own experiences. If your father-in-law fits this profile even a little, I already feel sorry for the construction manager accompanying the project.

That’s really a lot and I am surprised that you want/may insert EL "between" the trades; or that the craftsmen tolerate this. Watch out for the contracts regarding liability/warranty/acceptance; I am fairly sure the trades involved will protect themselves there.

I doubt that EL will be enough to end up with "only" €220,000 on the clock... if you’re not mad at me. However, I wish you much success and all the best and keep a reserve for extras/unforeseen circumstances.

Rhenish regards

Don’t worry, he is quite manageable. But I think I will also cause some friction, I come from toolmaking and am picky...

The tenders are just starting now... Let's see what the individual craftsmen say.

Why should I be mad? That’s why I asked here to get another opinion.

I have one more thing. Do you also think that the garage costs around €50,000?

Hello Kay,

Oh dear - if you are a mechanical engineer - remember, a "µ" is not the smallest unit in construction and a wall is in doubt not "crooked", but "slanted"

This is not a small item! I have considered it at around EUR 45k all in and was still very cautious.

Rhenish greetings

Yes, construction expert exactly,

mechanical and industrial engineer.
Just not an expert in construction....
I also planned to only walk around with the spirit level and measuring device in the evening after work. Don't want to get on the guys' nerves.

For example, we also asked the architect about plaster and screed if he has companies that work for his price. He showed invoices from them and that fit. Actually, we are happy, just this uncertainty with the costs.....
