Hello,

the interior plaster was applied in our house about 5 weeks ago. The screed was laid at the beginning of October. Heating has been on since last Saturday, and since then ventilation is done several times a day. The house is, of course, still damp. Now the exterior plastering is supposed to start in a week. My questions regarding this:

1) Can the exterior plastering begin even though the interior plaster and screed are not yet dry? My concern is that the brick will have no way to release its moisture either inward or outward and that defects may occur sooner or later. Is this fear justified? We are building with a Juwö Poroton S9.
2) Would it be more sensible to postpone the exterior plastering until next spring or should the application be risked this year? As I have researched, the exterior plaster should only be applied at >5°C. Does it already lead to poor results if it is only below 5°C at night and above 5°C during the day, or is it okay if it is colder at night?

Thank you very much in advance!

To both questions. No problem. The house continues to dry even when plastered. Cement plaster sets even at temperatures around 0, it generates heat as it hardens. And it will be some kind of cement plaster anyway.

Thank you for the feedback. But where is the moisture currently in the stone supposed to go if both sides are sealed with plaster? Does the plaster absorb the moisture from the stone and pass it on inside or outside?

By the way, the exterior facade is treated with a lime-cement lightweight base plaster, followed by a mineral top coat.

There should not actually be much moisture in the stone. And the interior plaster dries to the inside and the exterior plaster to the outside. But yes, what is inside the stone also evaporates through the plaster.
