Hello everyone,

I am new here (via Google) and hope that I will finally find answers to my questions here.

We would like to install underfloor heating in an apartment. The house was built in 1970, is completely basemented, and the apartment is on the ground floor. There are 3 rooms with approx. 45M[SUP]2[/SUP].

Now our problem:
I only have a build-up height of 5cm (floor slab to screed top edge without floor covering).
Now I have read something on the internet about these "thin-layer systems."

How does it look with insulation here (downwards)?
Which one should you take (stapler, etc.)?
Where can you get these systems?
What costs should I expect (underfloor heating complete, without screed)?

Hello again,

in all the rush I completely forgot....

We would only want 1 radiator in the 3 rooms, the rest should be heated via underfloor heating.

Thanks for all the info & tips in advance.

Best regards Sandro

Hello Sandro,

one radiator runs at about 60°C flow temperature, the underfloor heating at about 30-45°C. These are two different systems whose combination probably costs more money than equipping all rooms with the same system!

best regards

Hello K.Brodbeck,

thank you very much for your reply.

Maybe I was a bit imprecise... There is already a heating system that covers the entire house. (basement, ground floor, upper floor). We first wanted to renovate the apartment on the ground floor and remove the already existing radiators in 2 rooms.

The heating system is located directly below the rooms that are to be renovated. There is some kind of connection system that can also be connected to the radiators.

How do you see the insulation downwards with only 5 cm installation height of the underfloor heating?

Best regards Sandro
