Am I legally on the safe side regarding the work contract and scaffolding?

Hello, we also have a company from Slovakia in our subcontractor chain, I get along quite well with the boss, his performance is good too, he would provide me with a carpenter and construction helpers. I would draw up a contract for work for the roof truss and roof covering, that should put me on the safe side, right? Secondly, a question about the scaffolding, can I use my own mobile scaffold (ALTEC), or do different regulations apply because commercial workers use it?

Regarding question 1: Sure, but have the contract drawn up by a lawyer. We are talking about a cross-border contract here, which involves some particularities regarding applicable law and especially jurisdiction. Personally, I would not do it, as it will be extremely difficult to enforce any claims later on, even if the contract is well drafted.

Hello?! We’re talking about a minor service here. The OP should be glad if there is even a written contract at all. Even a contract with a lawyer won’t help you much in real life. Try to collect services from the Eastern Bloc or insist on defect remediation.

I have experienced that at least in Poland a lot of value is still placed on oral agreements. So far I have also had good experiences without proper contracts.

Well...

Depending on how large the roof structure becomes and how the roof is covered, it can very quickly run into the tens of thousands.

Yep, that's what I meant by a pee job. Because that can also quickly run into the tens of thousands if you have to fight a legal dispute with companies abroad that are probably unreachable + expert + translator, etc. As a rule, there is no legal expenses insurance that helps you. Not to mention all the stress and a construction site that may lie dormant for many months.

That's why I said: I wouldn't do it. Everyone can decide for themselves whether the cost savings are worth it.
