You are in good company. The aluminum windows are cold myth is as long-lasting and stubborn as the one about the barrack-like prefab houses, because of which Piggy Wise only builds stone upon stone.

And here there is now feedback: After many discussions, we decided on the option of plastic windows with aluminum cladding. The combination of design, durability, and price appealed to us. The window manufacturer is Kneef Südfenster, does anyone know them? Installation will be carried out by a local window company that installs windows exclusively themselves (no subcontractors, etc). Thanks to everyone who contributed their advice here :) Photos will follow after completion, but realistically due to the GDR-like production and installation dates, this will be in February/March.
