Good question. Since it is an older roof, it could be a hanging installation. I don't have another picture on hand right now to show you the scheme:
This allows the aluminum rail to expand freely. You can find various videos about it online.
Maybe you can feel at the vertical end whether and how the rail is hooked in.
Alternatively, it may also be glued (Enkolit or similar), in which case it won't work without damage.
