Hi there!

My wife doesn't really like these typical "Raufasertapeten" on the ceiling!

What other alternatives are there?
Would these be doable as a DIY project?
What additional costs would one have to expect?

Thanks in advance!
Marvin

Well, putty well and paint.

That sounds very, very exhausting and like tendonitis!
But we would like it...

Having the ceiling welded is the best, but you can also have it plastered. I wouldn't do wallpaper, I don't know anyone who still does that (South)

Sorry, I just googled but found nothing regarding welding ceilings, what is that?

The general contractor would also do plastering, it just costs more and he advised us against it, for whatever reason... (too complicated/expensive?)

The classic instead of Raufaser would be putty, painter's fleece, wall paint. Whoever putstys well can do without the fleece. Our ceiling has also become smooth and pure without it.
