Air-water heat pump - COP realistic?

the COP values in the data sheets are one thing, reality another. I would be interested to know what COP values your heat pump has?

Mine has 3.5. Divided into 3.9 for heating and 3.2 for domestic hot water. Is that okay or should the values be higher?

My car consumes 9l of diesel per 100 km. Is that good? Based on my information, it cannot be judged. The same applies to the COP of your heat pump that you have determined.

Google for heat pump consumption database. It is a list of now 250 owners of a heat pump with COP values and consumption as well as information on temperatures in the heating circuit. You can compare that with your values. However, keep in mind that the list is essentially filled by users of a forum for building services engineering with a high proportion of technically knowledgeable members. Therefore, they are more likely to optimize it afterwards.

Alternatively, there is also a study with about 50 heat pumps from 2020 by the Frauenhofer Institute: "Abschlussbericht WPsmart im Bestand". It also contains profiles of all the systems and buildings examined.

And don’t forget that the COP has no significance in this case at all. The annual performance factor would be the choice here and is, in turn, regionally different. Nevertheless, it is more suitable for comparison than COP.

If your values were determined over the entire year, then at first glance there is no reason to despair. Without knowledge of your building and many other factors, my assessment is very general. However, there should be room for improvement. Good values are above 4.5.
