Affordable engineered parquet, is a 2.5mm wear layer sufficient?

We also have the parquet in the open-plan living-dining kitchen. Zero problems!

That reassures me regarding the kitchen with parquet. Since it will be oak, it is also relatively hard. What I gather is to let the appearance decide (besides price). Are there any final concerns if the underlayer were poplar or similar regarding the load on the wood, emissions from the parquet adhesive of the different layers, etc., since poplar is often an indication of Asian goods? Or is every parquet purchased in Germany from a specialist dealer harmless in terms of health? The floor from Thede & Witte has such a construction with poplar.

There are special seals for that. However, I would be more concerned about the parquet adhesive than the parquet itself.

True, the parquet adhesive is also an issue.
