You don't necessarily have to suspend a ceiling completely; even partially can look very nice. For example, you can create a large, color-contrasted box (possibly several square meters in size) around the existing ceiling outlet with spotlights. This is sometimes called a "ceiling sail." Or narrow light strips with stripes along the edges plus some spotlights.

Both can be done really well and reduce the room's height less than a fully suspended ceiling.

Hello, even though it has been a while, the topic is still current. In the meantime, I have found out that the ceiling is quite slanted (partly 4cm difference, measured with a cross-line laser) and for this reason alone, I would like to lower the ceiling, but still as little as possible. I have now settled on the suspended ceiling system from Knauf with UD and CD profiles. With this system, you lose about 30mm in height anyway. However, it depends on whether you work with direct hangers as well as counter and support battens or omit the counter battens. Without considering the respective construction: What are the advantages and disadvantages of each system?

Thanks in advance...
