Your experiences with soundproof drywall panels?

: The crucial point is certainly how the drywall is exactly constructed. Just drywall? With OSB? I would at least not want to do without OSB boards or an alternative for sound insulation and fastening reasons. It shouldn’t really make a difference compared to a brick wall.

In my brochure which I have from Rigips Austria, a brick wall is compared with a normal single-layer plasterboard wall and a wall with Duo'Tech boards. The same wall thickness is always the starting point; the brick wall offers 42dB, the single-layer plasterboard 54dB, and the double-layer 61dB protection. The advantage mentioned is that the double wall is quicker to build, cheaper, and also lighter compared to the brick wall. So such a wall can not only keep up.

Lighter than the brick wall? I assume so. Thanks for the note about the dB, I didn't know that before.

A brick wall with 100mm hollow bricks plastered on both sides weighs about 114kg/m². The double drywall has only about 50kg/m², so it is not different from a wall equipped with two layers of simple drywall sheets. Almost 20 dB difference is already a lot; the 7dB difference to the normal double-layered wall does not seem much at first glance, but that's why I tried to explain that a 10dB difference corresponds to halving the volume, MayrCh then explained it better.
