Hello. I have a huge problem, namely I probably have woodworms in my house. How can I combat them privately at home without involving other companies (if there is no other option, I would also appreciate company recommendations)? I have heard that acorns can be used as bait, or that poison can be injected into the wood with syringes. Where can one buy professional poison against these pests? If someone wants to suggest heat treatment: The problem with heat treatment is that the living room up to the infested beams is about 10 meters high, so filling the room with steam or anything else is practically not feasible. I have not found a more suitable place in the forum....

Good morning Duffcola,

In your place, I would look for an expert in wood and wood pests in your region and commission them to find out if you have a wood pest, what kind it is, and what is infested. Without knowing the 'enemy,' you cannot fight it. This expert can then also give advice on how to combat this wood pest.

Many wood pests are found in wood with a moisture content that should not be present in a living space. So it could also be an old infestation where the pests are no longer active, or the beams are becoming damp from the roof, which would also need to be addressed.

When searching for the keyword [Wärmebehandlung], you will find that entire roof trusses can be heat-treated, and this is probably the most sensible method for everyone, which of course you cannot do yourself.

I would never use poison in a living space; poison cannot be trained on a living being but usually harms all living beings. I would not even use it in an unoccupied attic, let alone in living and sleeping areas.

I strongly advise against trying to solve this situation only with information from the internet and on your own; you can cause more damage than you save (in Swabian, we say: “saved money in the wrong place”).

Good luck!

I don't think it's a good idea to use it indoors!
