Hello, two weeks ago our precast concrete cellar was built. However, our interior walls and our ceiling are made of wood! Unfortunately, it has snowed and rained for 1.5 weeks, so our cellar is wet. That means there is water on the floor, and the wooden beams and the wooden ceiling are wet (water is dripping through the wooden ceiling). The construction site was covered, but it did not help at all. According to our construction company, this is not a problem. According to them, the cellar will be dried again with construction dryers. Is this procedure okay? What do you think? Will we have problems later?

Snow is definitely better than rain. I think you can dry that well.

As long as no insulation had been installed yet, it should dry out again.

How can I check if the wood is dry enough?

You actually don’t have to ;). That’s the contractor’s job. But if you want to know how much moisture the wood contains, usually a "simple" measuring device is enough: (search term: "moisture meter")

I would also like to know that myself. Trust is good, control is better.
Especially if glulam is installed in the ceiling area (later ground floor floor?), I would be cautious when water and frost come together.

Would you like to post some pictures of the situation? Quite a few people here build with wood and are always interested in such things to better assess their own projects.
