Hello,

we are currently in the phase where we are selecting the windows with the carpenter.

Now I have several offers.

The windows are always triple-glazed. However, one carpenter says that nowadays windows with 82 profile are usually installed, while the other says that 70 profile windows are sufficient. Of course, the 82 profile windows have a better Uw value. But how noticeable is the difference? Does it possibly also look better aesthetically?

Feel free to share your experiences.

Both window manufacturers are probably right: One says 70ers are enough (true), the other notes that he installs 82ers more often.

The difference will not be noticeable to you as a resident.

Whether the difference is noticeable to you as the "payer" depends on the surcharge, the heating technology, the duration of use, and the impact on the resale value.

Visually, I find the slightly thicker windows in the thicker walls nicer. Purely a matter of taste.

Decide based on your gut feeling; you can't make a decisive mistake here.

Well, that's already a statement. One window manufacturer even goes so far as to say he would tend to install ONLY min 82 from now on. I would say, my GUT says: More windows = More insulation = Better... how exactly the extra cost looks, I still have to clarify. But thanks for now

Your view does not quite correspond to reality. We have triple-glazed 82 Veka profiles. The window is bulky, heavy, tight, and warm, but also affordable; it is not flimsy. Son-in-law has Rehau 70 profiles. Thinner, more delicate, lighter, more expensive, also tight, also triple-glazed, also not flimsy, but more elegant in appearance.

so in this comparison the 70 series windows were MORE EXPENSIVE? but of course it's not so easy to compare with different manufacturers, when I look at the whole thing from VEKA, so 70 series or 82 series with otherwise exactly the same features, the 82 series are simply more expensive. although for me that should not necessarily be the decisive point, if it is now the case that in the end there is no REAL difference, of course I would rather save some money

well...I still tend to go for the 82 series window
