Why are most city villas square?

Hello,

is there actually a reason why 95% of the planned villas here have a square floor plan? Is the roof easier to construct here?

Personally, I like a hip roof, but on the other hand, not a square house...

Hello, we have the townhouse based on the building envelope with the dimensions 8.30 x 13.

... lack of imagination... the fear of standing out... fashion... mainstream... Back then, when a square floor plan or cubic house was still called Quattrohaus/Quadrohaus, I also liked it. Our neighboring house, with an almost square structure, I also quite like, but architecture basically looks different to me. I also wonder why people put themselves through these shackles - symmetry in the windows is completely uninteresting to me.

The main reason, in my opinion, lies in the fact that this allows for the best use of space (at lower costs). For us, currently only square is an option.

I've already seen B plans with building windows here that hardly allow anything else. While these parts are excluded with us, max 1.5 floors. So regionally very different. I only know one townhouse in the new development area here in the region, it fits there like a pig on a sofa. In the inner city, of course, these parts often date from the 1930s here. Karsten
