We are currently planning a new house in a new development area. We have an offer from a company that carries out the planning and construction supervision and, by contract for work, has the house built by various craftsmen. Since the new development area was partly swamp land at one time, and rising and pressing water is to be expected there, a [weisse Wanne] must be built. My question is, how risky is it to execute a [weisse Wanne] with prefabricated element walls and are there any empirical values on how often problems with tightness occur with [weisse Wannen] made of element walls?
The following was announced to us for the execution:
The [weisse Wanne] is to be carried out according to the Wolf system. I hope Wolf is good. The sewer connection is about 3 meters below the basement and is easily accessible. There is a natural slope towards the sewer. The connections to the sewer and building services (gas, water, electricity) are made by press sleeves, which are sealed under pressure. The connection points at floor and ceiling are then prepared accordingly with joint tapes/sealing material (overlap of the joint tape 3cm) to create maximum tightness. Immediately before setting the prefabricated element walls, the vertical joint tapes as wall connections are removed from existing stickers and prepared for absolute cleanliness.

In the course of the concreting process, the first layer is executed with a 0/8 grain size, here finer grain size, so that void formation is avoided when compacting due to the longer path. As proof, we receive the corresponding delivery notes in connection with the execution as watertight concrete. Additionally, a shrinkage crack reinforcement is applied, which causes minimal cracking.

The civil engineer supervising the work has many years of experience. The company that will carry out the basement and shell construction is a master operation (concrete and reinforced concrete master builder) that has existed for 20 years. Among other things, in addition to building and civil engineering, precast construction and special civil engineering are also offered.
I would be very pleased to receive any expert advice or assistance on this topic!

Hello ricochico,

what you describe sounds excellent. If the execution on the construction site also runs accordingly, which one can probably assume, I would have no concerns.

You seem to have caught a reasonable company.

With element walls, the inner and outer shuttering of the basement exterior walls is saved on site. This usually takes place under good conditions in a factory hall and the prefabricated walls are brought to the construction site, assembled, and cast with in-situ concrete.
A disadvantage is that after the production of the element walls, changes (basement windows, etc.) can only be made with somewhat greater effort.

I hope I have been able to help you a little with this.

Best regards from the Osnabrück region

Thank you very much! That helps me a lot. In the meantime, I have also received references from the internet about the company that will be carrying out the basement work. Without exception positive. I know the head of the company personally! A few weeks ago, I had an appointment on site with him and the civil engineer who supervises and accompanies the work on the construction site. Even back then, I had the impression that both are reliable and know their craft. This method of execution was explained to me. This was important to me because there are some damp basements in this building area, even with (incorrectly executed) white tanks.

Thanks again a thousand times!!!
