We are also considering including a whirlpool in our new construction project. Since the summer is relatively short, we had the idea of using a glass roof with sliding glass elements (a kind of cold conservatory) to accommodate the whirlpool there. Does that make sense, or would there be many moisture or other problems? What should we consider regarding the pipe routing in case we only want to "prepare" (just water, wastewater, and high-voltage power or something special like a shaft, etc.)?

You will need a dehumidification system. Otherwise, you have a dripstone cave. You need fresh water, wastewater, heavy current, electricity, network… supply and return lines. I would also install a sand filter system with automatic backwashing and automatic dosing. The cheaper whirlpools with cartridge filters only cause work. For heating, a heat pump instead of the instantaneous water heater. Possibly also a solar absorber.

One should carefully calculate whether the additional effort for their own heat pump, etc., is really worthwhile. Of course, it also depends on the planned usage. We have prepared this as well, you need 3-phase electricity and nothing else really. Water comes and goes via hose. More is always possible, of course ...

If you want to do everything manually, it’s possible. But the effort is quite high. Better to do it “properly” right away.

We are quickly talking about five-figure price differences between "manual" and "proper". That should perhaps be mentioned :) Water changes, for example, are done 2-4 times a year. You can definitely think about how much extra a "proper" piping system is worth.

A cold conservatory with sliding doors also costs money. If I use tablets for disinfection, you have to constantly check the water parameters. With frequent use, you have to change the water more often when using tablets because you cannot remove the degradation products and the disinfection no longer works.
