Hello everyone!!!!

We are currently getting quotes from window manufacturers. Since I keep reading more and more about break-ins in houses and I often have to work late shifts and my wife is home alone, we want secure windows that cannot be easily pried open. Can anyone recommend anything about which windows are break-in resistant?

Hello,

WK II - Secure living - Burglary Protection

A break-in in one's own home means a big shock for many people, whether young or old. What often troubles those affected more than the purely material damage are the violation of privacy, the lost sense of security, or serious psychological consequences that can occur after a break-in.

The experience of the police shows that one can protect oneself from this. Over one third of break-ins remain in the attempt stage, not least because of security installations.

Windows

Tested burglary-resistant windows and window doors (terrace/balcony doors) according to DIN V Energy Ordinance 1627 (formerly: DIN V 18054).
Windows and window doors that are accessible from the outside without special tools are, alongside apartment entrance doors, the most frequent attack points for burglars. In new constructions and renovations, good protection against burglary is provided by installing tested burglary-resistant windows and window doors in resistance class (WK) 2. These components undergo a practical burglary test. This ensures that there is no weak point in the overall construction (wall connection, frame, fittings, lockable window handle, glazing, and professional installation).

Costs: depending on the proportion of windows/house from EUR 3,500.00 with certificate

WK II – “similar” security measure

Example: All window wings - front door - throughout the entire building receive fittings per wing with at least 7 security locks (mushroom head fittings) including drill protection and lockable olive Hoppe® Seccu 100.

Window profile manufacturer: company Veka®, Kömmerling® or equivalent, fittings Winkhaus®, Sigenia® or equivalent, installation according to WK II specifications

Costs: approx. €125.00 per window wing, depending on size and manufacturer choice; without certificate
