Dear forum,

We are building a single-family house and are looking for a doorbell/intercom system with the following criteria:

> Video intercom at the garden fence
> simple doorbell button at the front door
> indoor station as an intercom and for opening the garden gate (and ideally also for opening the motorized driveway gate).
> the indoor station could (but does not have to) also be a KNX control panel, as the electrical installations in our house are executed as KNX.

Do you have product recommendations for me?

At the moment I am leaning towards Gira, specifically the System 106 for the outdoor station and the G1 as a smartphone panel indoor station, where I would also place the door intercom.
If anyone has experience with this setup, I would be very interested to hear about it. In particular, I would like to know whether the door intercom can really be well implemented on the G1. For example, what happens if the doorbell rings and I open the door directly without having operated any buttons on the G1 beforehand? Does the G1 then go back to standby after a defined time?

Many thanks and regards
Felix

The Gira system works quite well. If you don't answer, the G1 goes back to standby. We ourselves have two stations, 19" panel and 9 G1. However, there are enough alternatives that do not have a closed system and are usually cheaper. Just search in the forum.

Basalte Adelante and Basalte Home as visualization :) But then one of the first questions would certainly be about the budget.

Otherwise, depending on the visualization, a good SIP station, e.g. from 2N. I have had excellent experiences with that. I don't like the 106, it looks good from the outside, but the image quality (and everything else) is pretty much from the 90s.

We have also spent a long time on the topic. Since the camera quality of the Gira 106 was described by many as really poor and we were able to experience this live at our electrician's, we ultimately combined the Gira G1 with a DoorBird. We let the two communicate via a router. It basically offers the same functions, just with a better camera image, and the DoorBird outdoor station costs about half as much as the Gira. You have the router anyway in the network cabinet, so I don’t initially see it as an additional cost.

How does the connection of the Doorbird work? Do I need a network cable at the garden fence? Or how do I connect the outdoor station to the router? And what happens if there is no internet? Is the doorbell then automatically deactivated as well?
