Which software is used for floor plan design and modeling?

floorplanner 3d is also nice for playing around.

Honestly, not really. You won’t get it to scale that accurately. And you also can’t so nicely remove the first or attic floor. And painting Legos is also lame. Our house was back then 50x50 in the floor plan

Laugh... it's about planning and not finalizing or creating a model. And planning works excellently with Lego ;)

Here are a few examples for Sweethome 3D.. I used this for our planning. We are still very impressed today how well SH3D represented the later reality.

Wow. I have been planning with SH3D for quite some time now and have also created and imported some furniture pieces myself. However, I keep failing with the rendered images, which simply never look good for me. I strongly suspect that I need to adjust something with the lighting because the areas around the windows look good, but the rest becomes very grainy. Do you have any tips for me? Because your pictures look extremely good.
