Small DIY tools are really not made for core drilling work. You need something like a Hilti for that. That reminds me of a quote during the consultation when I was told that a DIY tool would be enough for my purposes (drilling holes in walls and ceilings) for even 10 new buildings. I then asked why people would buy a Hilti. The answer: "With a Hilti, you can tear down 10 houses and still pass it on."

During our gutting, we had a large green Bosch and a large old Hilti machine. The Hilti machine was hellishly heavy but barely stopped anything.

Good tools are important if you want to do a lot yourself. Even more important, however, is that you use the right tool for the intended purpose. Otherwise, it can become very difficult and time-consuming if you use the wrong tool for the wrong purpose.
