Which putty?

we need to get the putty for our painter now. The starting point is Rigips gypsum fiberboard walls and Knauf gypsum plasterboard ceilings.

The brand doesn't really matter to him in principle, usually he uses Knauf UniFlott, which, however, varies in quality. In terms of processing, he prefers Gima joint filler. There is also the Rigips Vario, which can be used without reinforcement tape, and the Rigips Super joint filler with reinforcement tape. Of course, the prices differ as well:

Gima 32 EUR
Vario 38 EUR
Super 22 EUR per 25kg bag

Are there significant quality differences here? In another forum I read that you should pay attention to a fiber-reinforced product to prevent cracking. Opinions?

If he prefers Gima then just buy Gima... If you take something else and then something doesn't fit, it's just "I suggested Gima".

I would completely agree with Lumpi_LE there; if you already get him the material and he mentions one he normally works with, then I would better buy that one too, so you are on the safe side in that regard.

Basically, I had planned to get the Gima as well. Unfortunately, you don't find anything at all on the internet about the quality or crack resistance or anything like that. He also basically only spoke about the easy processing with Gima, no long-term experience.

I am also considering the Rigips product for 22 EUR...

Quite clear: the craftsman gets the material he wants. Period.

Otherwise, I can gladly work with Pufas putty. For the finish, Alsecco ready-made putty from the bucket.
