Acrylic is more flexible to work with. So if you prefer a "playful" shape, you probably couldn't afford one made of steel.

In my experience, acrylic has the following disadvantages: it feels warm, but does not retain heat. Since a bathtub is anyway only filled with warm water, the disadvantage of the coldness of enamel is neutralized.
Furthermore, acrylic scratches, which becomes visible when light falls on it. And acrylic is not pore-free, so color particles will leave their marks.

We have a Mauersberger Jucunda 190x90cm in the new building. However, for the next bathroom, I would choose a steel tub. Acrylic is simply too sensitive.

Thank you very much for your answers. It seems that acrylic tubs are very sensitive, so steel is probably the better choice after all. What about those special coatings that are supposed to make the water bead off better and make cleaning easier? Does that help?

Best regards
Sabine

We have Keramag Icon washbasins with KeraTect. That makes a difference, and the coating is supposed to last forever.
